This is an Apple security feature which is beyond our control, which is not a bug in our service either, and which breaks the link (the URL) on the card for security reasons if you have never exchanged text messages with someone. This protection is designed to prevent fraudulent urls.

The only known solution to date is to send a message back to the sender of the text message.

That's why we've configured the default sms message as follows:

Hello, here is the interactive business card of xxxxxxxx - COMPANY (if the link does not open, please reply to this SMS) https://card.pm/xxxxxxx

In fact, if your contact sends you an SMS back (e.g. "thank you"), this will activate the card link.
