Email signature

Your specific questions

Set up your email account(s) using the Spark tutorial:

Once the app has been installed and set up, to configure your signature, simply go to the "Settings" menu:

Select the “Signatures” tab:

In your user interface, under the “Email signatures” section, select and copy the “HTML code” displayed below the signature:

In Spark, click the “Add a signature” button, then the “HTML” button, and paste your code:

When you exit “HTML” mode, you can also add text to your signature.

And there you have it – your signature is set up and will be automatically updated whenever you make future changes.

All that’s left is to test your signature by sending yourself an email BUT PLEASE NOTE: the link in your signature is NEVER active whilst you’re editing the email; it only becomes active once you’ve received it.

||| Apple has very recently blocked the display of images loaded from an external server in its Mail app. Our team is hard at work developing a dedicated solution.

  1. Copy the HTML code for your email signature from your CARD.PM user account by selecting the blue text, right-clicking and choosing ‘Copy’.

  2. Once you’ve copied your HTML file, open the MAIL app on your computer, go to PREFERENCES > SIGNATURES and click the ‘+’ icon next to the email account of your choice (if you have more than one).

At this point, either some ‘automatic’ text will be inserted into the signature automatically, or you can type in a short message such as ‘test’, for example.

Next, exit Preferences and then close the Apple Mail app.

  3. Edit the .mailsignature file

For your information, this file is created automatically when you add a signature in Mail’s preferences (step 2 of this tutorial), and it is this file that you’ll need to edit to customise your email signature with the CARD.P signature.

To do this, you need to go to your Mac’s desktop:

Keep the header in green and edit the code in red with your own HTML

    3.1. Open Finder

3.2. Click the ‘Go’ tab and, at the same time, press the ALT / OPTION key

3.3. This will bring up the hidden ‘Library’ tab. Make sure you keep the Option key held down to display this menu.

    Or, alternative method:

In the Finder, select Go > Go to Folder.

  • In the Go to Folder dialogue box, enter: ~/Library

    Click Go.

    3.4. Click MAIL > V8 (or another number) > MAILDATA > SIGNATURE

3.5. Next, you’ll need to find the most recently created file, which will be in the format 1XC1D786-D938-3GZ9-FO29-2F02T7J8SL14.mailsignature (check the creation date and time)

3.6. Open the .mailsignature file in your text editor: here, you’ll need to keep the header (green box) and replace the body (in red) with the HTML code generated in step 1 (red box in the screenshot below)

The green section should be kept, whilst the red section should be replaced with the HTML code for your signature (copied in step 1)

3.7. Don’t forget to save your changes!

Before reopening the Mail app, you must lock the .mailsignature file by right-clicking on it > then click on ‘View Properties’ and tick the ‘Locked’ box

  1. Check the result of your professional email signature

Now, open the Apple Mail app and compose a test email by selecting your signature.

EMAIL:

  • Open and log in to your CARD.PM user interface on your iPhone via your **Safari browser (this is essential), then go to the "EMAIL SIGNATURE" section

  • Once your signature is on the screen, tap the “COPY SIGNATURE” button, which will then turn green and display the text “SIGNATURE COPIED”

  • You must then go to the Settings menu on your iPhone

  • Then select ‘Signature’

  • Once in the signature management menu, simply paste your signature into the designated field by selecting the correct email account.

IMPORTANT: You must include at least one character above or below the image for it to be recognised by the Mail app. You could, for example, add a personalised message such as: “Kind regards” / “your first name” or a simple full stop “.” or hyphen “-” below your signature image. Without this step, the signature will not appear in your emails.

  • Once you’ve pasted the signature, you must then shake (yes, shake) your iPhone vigorously to bring up the “Cancel/Edit Attributes” menu this will depend on your OS version (prior to iOS 13)

Tap “Yes”, then tap the arrow < Mail in the top-left corner

You can then test your new signature by composing a new email in your Mail app.

Your signature should now appear at the bottom of your email.

If you get stuck on any of the steps or if it doesn’t work, we recommend restarting your iPhone and starting again by carefully following all the steps in this tutorial, or trying it with the Spark

There you go, your signature is set up!

All that’s left is to test your signature by sending yourself an email
BUT PLEASE NOTE: the link in your signature is NEVER active whilst you’re composing the email; it only becomes active once you’ve received it.**

Recommended software

To access your email signature, you need to log in to your user or manager account using the login details we sent you by email.

Once you’re in your card’s interface:

Click on the EMAIL SIGNATURE button:

You will then be taken to this screen:

Click on the “COPY SIGNATURE” button

Finally, all you need to do is “PASTE” using the right mouse button or your keyboard (CTRL + V or Cmd + V on a Mac) to paste the signature into the designated field in your email application; you should then see your email signature displayed.

For better integration, and if your email application supports HTML code directly, we’ve made it available to you here**. You’ll simply need to ensure you’re in the HTML settings field and ‘paste’ the HTML text you’ve previously ‘copied’ there.**

Save your changes and test them by sending an email to yourself.

Make sure you select the correct email signature before sending the email.

Please note: The link in the signature is NEVER active whilst you are composing an email; it only works when the email is received. It is therefore essential that you send an email to yourself to test it.

When you receive the email, click on the signature; this should open your digital business card in your default web browser.

UPDATE: Automatic synchronisation from the Web version - 2025

Since the early 2025 updates, Gmail for Android has harmonised the way it works. The HTML signature configured on your computer is now automatically synchronised on your mobile application.

👉 What you get:

  • Logos & Images: Faithful display ✅
  • Clickable links**: Perfectly functional ✅
  • Cleanliness**: No more [OBJ] type tags ❌
  • Simplicity**: No more manual copy and paste on your phone ❌

⚠️ The golden principle: The web version is your "source of truth". The local mobile signature takes priority; if activated, it blocks synchronisation of the rich signature.

💻 Step 1: Configure the "Master" signature on your computer

Everything starts here. To render impeccably on Android, your signature must be set up correctly on the browser.

  1. Connect to Gmail on your computer.
  2. Click on the icon Settings ⚙️View all settings.
  3. In the General tab, scroll down to the Signature section.
  4. Create or modify your signature.

🔥 Warning: Default values

Just below the signature editor, you must configure these options:

  • For new emails: Select your signature.
  • For replies/forwards**: Select your signature.

**Don't forget to click on "Save changes" at the bottom of the page.

🧹 Step 2: Clean up the Gmail application on Android

To make room for the HTML signature, you'll need to remove the "Mobile Signature" that acts as a lock.

  1. Open the Gmail application on your smartphone.
  2. Press the menu → Settings.
  3. Select the relevant email account.
  4. Press Mobile signature.
  5. Delete all the text. The field must be completely empty.
  6. Confirm with OK.

💡 Did you know? In 2025, Gmail will now display an explanatory text: If this field is empty, the signature configured on the Web will be used " This is exactly what we want.

🔄 Step 3: Force synchronisation (if there's a delay)

If the rich signature does not appear immediately when you write a new message :

  1. Go to Settings on your Android phone.
  2. Go to Passwords and Accounts (or "Users and Accounts").
  3. Select your Google Account.
  4. Check that Gmail synchronisation is activated.
  5. Press the three dots Sync Now.

*Note: restarting the application (force shutdown) is usually enough to refresh the display.

✅ Expected end result

  • An identical HTML signature on PC and Android.
  • Images displayed without error.
  • Simplified maintenance: edit on PC, it's updated everywhere.

You need to check your mail utility settings to ensure that it does not prohibit the display of incoming images.

If this is the case, you need to change the settings to accept images.

When editing an email, it is very common for the signature not to be displayed, although it will appear on receipt.
